Our Mission

We are committed to providing hope, support, education, and advocacy to every member of any family whose child has been diagnosed with cancer. We strive to offer caring, loving, immediate, effective, and practical support to children with cancer, survivors of childhood cancer, and the families who care for them.

What's New

Brazos Valley Candlelighters has been on "temporary hold" for awhile, due to circumstances beyond our control. The group was started by an ordinary mom whose daughter had cancer as a child.  However, her prior cancer treatment has caused many long-term complications, and ironically she has been very ill in recent months. 
 
We hope that you will understand why we're not "active" at the present time, but please keep in touch and check back often. We will let you know when things settle down and we can get back to what we were created to do.

Brazos Valley Candlelighters

Brazos Valley Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation is an affiliate of the National Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation.  Our goal is simple - to do everything we can to make the journey for families that have a child with cancer a little easier.

Fun and Games

We held our first social event on February 29, and a great time was had by all.  Everyone enjoyed pizza and junk food until they were stuffed.  Then the "grown-ups" played a few fierce hands of Bunco (rumor has it that these folks take their play-time VERY serious!)  The kids challenged a few members of the Texas A&M Cancer Club (that were brave enough to show up) to a game of Twister, and rumor has it that the college students couldn't walk for days afterwards!  They also had a really good time decorating their own "LUCKY" t-shirts to wear home.  Pictures coming soon!
